The Marching Commands

In the year 2006, the band’s commands have been changed from BM to English because our instructor, Mr. Reggie, thought it weird that we say “Pancaragam, sedia!” followed by a “Band Manners”. Mr. Reggie use to call “Pancaragam”, “Bungee Jump”.

Band! Attention! (Pronounce Atten-Hup!)

It indicates that members should immediately switch to sedia position – alert and ready for instruction. No moving around, talking or smiling is allowed in this position.

On this command, members should stand with their heels together, feet forming an angle of 45 degress (V-shape). Head and body should erect, hips and shoulders level and chest lifted. Stomach should be in, chest out. Heads and eyes are to be directed to the front.

Band! At ease! (Senang diri)

On this command, members can relax and put their instrument down. Light movements are allowed but talking is not.

Band! Fall in! (Masuk baris)

Members must fall into the block as fast as possible.

Band! Fall out! / Band! Dismiss! (Keluar baris)

Members will exit the block by turning 90 degrees to the right, walk 3 steps to the front and stamp lightly with the right foot on the forth step.

-One, two, three, bang!-

Band! Forward, march! (Ke depan, jalan)

The band march forward.

Band, Halt! (Berhenti)

The band stops marching.

Right Face! (Ke kanan pusing)

Turn 90 degrees to the right. This command is given when the band block is stationary.

Left Face! (Ke kiri pusing)

Turn 90 degrees to the left. This command is given when the band block is stationary.

Right Flank!

This command is given when the block is already marching. In this case, the block will turn 90 to the right and continue marching.

Left Flank!

As in the case of right flank, this time, the band block will turn 90 degrees to the left and continue marching.

Right oblique, turn! / Right oblique, march!

If “turn” is said, the band will turn 45 degrees to the right. If “march” is used, the band turns 45 degrees to the right and continue marching.

Left oblique, turn! / Left oblique, march!

As in the case of right oblique, the band will turn 45 degrees to the left.

About Face! (Ke belakang pusing)

The block will turn 180 degrees to the right. The band block will be stationary when this command is given.

To the rear, march! / About turn!

The band will turn 180 degrees to the right and continue marching.
