Band AGM 2010

This year, the new committee of 2010/2011 planned the Band AGM. The committee of 2009/2010 gave us one theme: Hawaii, and so we decided to hold it in school!

Our first draft of the ticket design by Eleena Bakrie.

Our first draft of the Poster (designed by Eleena Bakrie). Venue was later changed to School Grounds because we wanted change ๐Ÿ˜‰

It was held on 4th September 2010, Saturday. Band practice was from 9 – 10 am only and the rest of the time was spent setting up our decorations for AGM that night!

Some of the juniors who helped carry the tables all the way from the KH room!

Our seniors, practicing for their performance tonight!

Oh no, Lala spotted us!

Our new Drum Majorette ๐Ÿ™‚

She’s very serious sometimes.

Excited band members! :D:D (LOL)

What it’s like inside.

Our designer, Eleena Bakrie.

Our photographer, Alicia Eng.

Creative shot of the barbeque set!

Some ofย the lightsย we hungย around the school grounds.

We had lanterns too because we put in aย lot of effort and work, because we wanted the best for our seniors.

More lanterns! This was SO hard to light up in the evening as the wind kept blowing ahahah!

Some of our (stolen, cough) leaves ๐Ÿ˜€

LOOK! IT’S SHINY.

Working hard~~ ๐Ÿ™‚

And still having fun!

Working magic.

The juniors went home at around 11am – 12pm whileย some form 4s stayed on to finish up the decorations and setting the whole place up. We went home around 2pm to get ready and took turns coming back until 6pm, where the form 4s all gathered to light the candles, fire up the barbeque and set up the music.

6:45pm, everyone starting to arrive.

First time ok! So burnt a bit ehhehehehe.

Our super awesome BBQ Team! :D:D:D

Christine Ling, who supplied the rest of the leaves from her garden!

Amy Voon, being emo with our tiki torches.

Eleena Bakrie, who supplied those tiki torches.

We were in need of lots of tape as our lanterns/flowers/leaves kept falling.

Our registration table, tickets in the corner!

How we set up some of our lanterns.

The fire from our BBQ.

Eating!

We only started eating at around 8pm as we were waiting for all our teachers to arrive. This was during the puasa month so we felt really bad for our Malay members, hehe. It was potluck so there was A LOT of food–three whole KH room tables FILLED! We played Hawaiian music in the background (mostly from Lilo and Stitch, hehe) so hopefully we didn’t disturb the nuns too much. ๐Ÿ™‚

Our music room, all prepared for the movie later!

Our teachers ๐Ÿ™‚

People who finished eating early played limbo inside!

Our pretty president, with the flowers we hung in the doorway ๐Ÿ™‚

Our form 5 seniors

Stephanie Nina, ex-president, giving her speech and passing down all the posts.

We then gathered in the music room for the performances (one by our seniors, another by our two form 4s who will be leaving us, Alicia Eng and Clarissa Chai), speeches (which wasn’t many this time) and the passing down of posts. After which we had planned to watch a movie, August Rush, as it was an inspiring movie about music. (:

It was shortly followed by a short video presentation of the Form 4 high committee, just being crazy. The songs used were You and I by Ingrid Michaelson, followed by Mountain and the Sea, also by Ingrid Michaelson. The video can be found here: http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=461112802007

After that, we all settled down for our movie: August Rush! ๐Ÿ˜€ it was suggested and brought by our band instructor, Mr. Marvin Jong.
The movie finished at around 11:30pm. Everyone went home, tired. We had lots of fun, and I hope all the other members felt the same! ๐Ÿ™‚

Band AGM 2009

So for the first time in years, we had our Band AGM in Sarawak Club! ๐Ÿ˜€ It was planned by the 2008/2009 committee.

Everyone had to pay around RM25 and we were all very excited. The seniors had also forced the juniors to perform so we were excited about that too. We even had two ex-seniors attend! ๐Ÿ™‚ Haziqah and Diyana!

The night started off with our two emcees: Chong Lip Yi and Dae Iman.

To grab everyone’s attention, Dae decided to hit a glass with her spoon.

Unfortunately, she didn’t know her own strength.

The whole hall was silent as the sound of glass shattering filled it. Then at the sight of Dae’s shocked and open-mouthed face, we all burst out laughing. She certainly got our attention, all right!

Pn. Kong, our teacher-in-charge of band, was invited to give a speech. ๐Ÿ™‚

Our band instructor, Mr Marvin, was called up next.

Followed by our president, Ms Amanda Voon.

Then we said our prayers and proceeded to the buffet table for OUR FOOD! ๐Ÿ˜€

Then some games were played. The first game was musical chairs, in which every round the loser would have to go on stage and accept a dare! Juniors were pulled up (quite forcibly, by Elizabeth Su and Dae Iman).

Oh those poor things.

Our first loss was Michelle Ting, who was dared to dance on stage. Oh boy, that girl CAN DANCE! We wanted more, but she quickly ran off stage, laughing. Aww darn it. The next few came from different sections, and so they were dared to sing their instrument part of the song, The Hustle! That was great fun xD It went on and on until we finally had the two last winners, Amy Voon and Letitia Mejin!

Then came the performances. The form 4s had a “fashion show” which gathered quite a few laughs at their funny acts. We had a performance by the new juniors too, mostly from the flute section.

The entire flute section had a group photo after that.

Then, there was a singing duet on guitars. They were none other than Alicia Eng and Clarissa Chai, who sang two songs! One of them was “Leave the Pieces”, where the pun was intended for the seniors to remember to leave their song pieces behind for us. Hahaha! After that, Maxine Rose sang “More Than Words” with Ruth Sinyom on the guitar too.

The last performance was by a group of 5 Form 3s; Christine Ling, Amy Voon, Valerie Ng, Michelle Goh and Nur Sabrina. They acted out a song, “The Bird and the Worm” by Owl City. It won the best performance!

Click hereย to see the video!

Then we announced the new committee of 2009/2010 and then the night ended after taking photos with everyone. ๐Ÿ™‚
