Recap of 2013 (September)

Hey everyone!

This is a continuation of the last post. A recap of 2013 for September. 🙂

We were invited to perform at the Malaysia Day parade on the 16th of September, 2013. It was especially important because 2013 marked the 50th year of Sarawak’s independence in Malaysia. 50 members of the band were selected to perform and march in the parade.  Three songs, The Hustle, Abington Ridge and Sousa Spectacular were chosen and we were guided by Mr Rovish (former military band major) and Mr Brian Lasung (our band instructor). Marching practices were also constantly held in the school field or at the Civic Centre car park.

It was truly an amazing experience for the STS Band. It represented our school, SMK St. Teresa at national level and the event was broadcast live on all Malaysian TV channels. It is with great hope that our band will have the chance to shine in another such prestigious event, in the years to come.

On the 28th of September 2013, we were invited to perform for Hari Wanita held at BCCK to play the National Anthem, Negaraku and the State Anthem, Ibu Pertiwiku for the opening ceremony of the event. After our performance, we were required to be ‘pom pom girls’ for the other performances. It was truly a fun and great experience.
